Peggy Dillard is yet another trailblazing black model form the seventies. She was the second black woman to appear on the cover of Vogue (after Beverly Johnson).
She moved to New York study fashion, art and music at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, but was soon modeling . . . and going farther than New York City. She appeared in a television ad in Japan modeling lingerie, which was not the kind of TV ad anyone appeared in at the time . . . especially in America.
Of course,as the photo above shows, she's modeled clothes even racier than undergarments.
She divides her time between South Carolina and New York with her husband, artist Lloyd Toone . . . and she's sometimes referred to as Peggy Dillard-Toone.
