Elton John cancels Vegas shows on doctors' orders - Sir Elton John has pulled out of 3 performances of his current Las Vegas residency, when being taken to hospital with a respiratory infection.The singer was admitted to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre on Wednesday, however released an equivalent day.

Doctors have suggested the 65-year-old star against operating whereas he completes a course of antibiotics.

The remaining eleven concerts of his Million dollar Piano residency at Caesars Palace occur in October.

"Elton developed a heavy respiratory infection last weekend whereas engaging at The Colosseum on Sunday, May 20," said an announcement by his publicist, Fran Curtis.

"This week the condition worsened, even with medication and rest, leading to Elton being hospitalised."

The statement added that the singer underwent "extensive tests" and was counseled to require "complete rest" for "approximately seven days... to cure his respiratory infection and stop any damage".

Sir Elton added his own apologies: "All I will enlighten the fans is 'sorry i can not be with you'."

"I love performing the show and that i are going to be thrilled after we come back to the Colosseum in October to complete the eleven concerts."

Sir Elton was previously forced to cancel 2 concerts in February, when he diminished with food poisoning.

Gibb dedication

The singer, whose hits embody Your Song and Candle within the Wind, began his three-year headlining stint in Las Vegas in September last year.

Earlier in the week, he dedicated his track do not Let the Sun Go Down on Me to Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb, who died at the weekend.

"The Bee Gees were a part of my life once I was growing up; they were an enormous influence on me as a songwriter," he told the audience. "Travel well Robin - you were wonderful. God bless you."

The singer is anticipated to perform at The Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace on four June, before embarking on a tour of Europe in June and July.

He returns to the u. s. and Canada for a series of concerts in September, before finishing the Las Vegas residency.
